Chris Lloyd

Chris has been working in Clubs for over 12 years now, having run his own very successful night Escapism Cruises on the River Thames for 8, played in all of London’s major clubs, and is now Resident and Partner of Rock Da World, dropping his no nonsense mix of Jumpin Jackin Chunky House and Breaks.

Chris started off as a Lighting Jockey for Luminar Leisure many moons ago, progressing to events like 'RAVEALATION' @ Wembley, and 'DREAMSCAPE' @ The Sanctuary, Milton Keynes in front of up to 10, 000 clubbers.

Naturally this progression lead to DJing within Commercial clubs around England, before a move to the 'Underground' sound of House and Trance. Securing a Residency whilst at De Montfort University (Leicester) in 1996 enabled him to meet many top flight DJs, before starting up his first Monthly night 'Twisted' in his final year.
Immediately after University in 1997, Chris spent a season out in IBIZA, with a Residency @ Sergeant Peppers II, and regular Guest slots in San Antonio's West End bars such as 'Nightlife', 'Play2', 'Simple', as well as Pre-Club parties for the likes of 'Cream' and 'Clockwork Orange' @ 'Cafe Mambo' and 'Kanya' Bar.

Chris returned to a Residency @ House night 'Luvism' at Hammersmith Palais, before deciding to do his own thing once again and put the FUN back into Clubbing, thus the creation of his own club night 'Escapism Cruises' in 1998.

For the last 8 years Chris has been running hedonistic, full-on, party-style Boat Parties up and down The River Thames in London, once a month, during the Summer, full of 250 up-for-it clubbers, playing a broad mixture of sounds from Chunky, Funky House & Breaks, through to Tough House and Trance, always with the emphasis of FUN!

Another sell out at New Years Eve 2005 shows that Escapism still ‘Rocks The Boat’, but will now be limited to very special one-offs during 2006.

Chris’ DJ style moves through bouncy CHUNKY, FUNKY HOUSE & BREAKS, depending on where and when he is playing, and thoroughly enjoys all genres of House equally:
"I think it is important to have an ear for different styles so as to appreciate what is happening on the dance floor, and I love mixing up my sets so that you are not sure which way I am gonna go next but in a way so as not to upset the journey of the set. I feel that programming a set is just as important as the tunes you play and something that is lacking on many a dance floor in clubs today."

Chris has just made it through to the finals of London's D-Joust DJ Competition where he will be up against some of London's finest DJs.

Last Summer he made it through to the Grand Final of KissDaFunk's National DJ competition in Leeds. Although he didn't win he has been asked by 'The Trophy Twins' to come back and play @ KissDaFunk in the future.

He also made it through to the FINALs of 'The ASCENSION DJ AWARDS', a National DJ competition held in the UK. He made it to the last 5 playing in the final @ 'Klute' in Bournemouth, and came Runner-Up after a closely battled session. ROCK DA

WORLD:
Chris is now part of the very successful 'RockDaWorld' team of Daniele Davolli and Tim Healy (Coburn), where he will be mixing his own blend of 'Electro House and Rock fuelled Breaks alongside such guests as Leeroy from 'The Prodigy', Eddie Temple Morris from X-Fm, Benny Benassi and Atomic Hooligan.

He will be Residing with Rock Da World at their bi-monthly gigs at The Gallery, Tunrmills, and touring with the boys to Snowboming 2006 in Mayrhofen, Austria, playing alongside a whole hosts of names including 2ManyDJs, Audio Bully’s, James Zabelia, Darren Emerson and The Cuban Brothers to name but a few, as well as many RDW appearances at various clubs around the country.

Chris has also been chosen as the DJ of NOKIA, DJing all weekend in their Nokia RAW Tent @ the Carling Reading Festival, where he rocked the crowd from Fri to Sun with his electic mix of Electro House and Breaks. Other NOKIA events have included ‘Wireless Festival’, O2 Conference, The Best of Stuff Exhibition, The Clothes Show LIVE and a repeat booking at this year’s Carling Reading Festival as well as The Isle of White Festival.CDs are available on request.
